Name of the app you are reviewing: Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System version)
Alex Kidd is part of the games I love the most from Sega, it was also one of the first games I played in my life. To this day I play it, on my console and also emulated on the PC.
Review:
When I got my first console, my goal was to beat all the games (yes I had that goal), I had no knowledge of games, it was my first console and I didn't even know what to do. When I saw the option for games with the letter A on the console, Alex Kidd was there, not one, but four games from his saga. The first one I played was this one, I did well in the beginning, but it was very difficult to beat it. There were some crazy scrolls and I didn't know what to do, in the final stage I had to jump through the codes and I didn't know any of them, the ghosts came and that was my end.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World, was the first game in the Alex Kidd saga, released in 1986 for the Master System. Its first version was a 2D game very similar to Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. Alex Kidd is believed to have been created to compete with Super Mario Bros... Despite being considered better than Mario by many critics, it didn't become as popular due to the low popularity of the console.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World was first released as a cartridge. From 1990 onwards, the game was remade with some revisions to the Sega Master System memory, including some of the American and European versions of Master System II, and some European versions of Master System 1. The new version included in the Master System's memory American and European had minor differences from the cartridge version, such as Alex eating a hamburger instead of an Onigiri (rice cake) between stages, and switching buttons 1 and 2 commands.
Your journey with little Alex starts with three lives, and he doesn't have a life bar, he's dead. The game is divided into several stages, containing secret stages within their own stages. Also, it is possible to see a map of Alex's entire journey, however some points of the map are hidden like the final castle.
Every pair of stages feature a boss, and the most dangerous bosses are the ones you need to defeat by hand, yes by hand! In a game of Rock, Paper or Scissors! Before any battle you can go to the Mall and buy items.
The game was very well made, the graphics, audio and gameplay are excellent. It is very easy to control the character, in addition to being a lot of fun. And the soundtrack, very special, some stages have the same sound, but others change, even so the game is very good to play.
Strong points:
– Great gameplay.
- Very well developed soundtrack
– Beautiful and well-detailed graphics.
– Varied and very different scenarios from each other.
Weaknesses:
-Bosses don't change anything in their clothes; only in the powers.
–Keeping the 8bit gameplay, not the life or energy bar, touched, fell, died.
–Unable to save your development in the game (on console).
Grade: 8.7/10.0
Would you recommend this to other users? Yes, but for the people who really REALLY like classic old games.
Rating (1-5):
