Review:
Alto's Odyssey is a sequel to the game 'Alto's Adventure'. It retains the same basic gameplay of the original. The player controls can make Alto jump by tapping the screen, and while the player is suspended in mid air, they can perform tricks by holding their finger down on the screen.
The game consists of three realms: The Dunes, Canyons, and Temples. Later in the game, it will be possibly to purchase a compass, and will allow the player to traval between these areas for a fixed amount of coins— the in-game currency— which can either be collected by traversing the areas in your runs, or can be purchased with real money in the shop.
Now onto the features. Alto's Odyssey, like Alto's Adventure, is an endless sidescroller, however this sequel has some newly added features, such as: wall riding, falling platforms, water mechanics, tornado's, balloon jumping, and more. During your runs, the player will run into many obstacles that can knock you off your board, which will end that run and force you to start a new one. These obstacles include rocks, chasms, or just misjudging a flip and landing on your back. There is a separate mode that makes you impervious to these obstacles however; zen mode, separate from the main game and allows the player to sandboard for as long as they please without worry of falling off the board.
Overall, the game is a peaceful experience. Coupled with gorgeous visuals, soothing music, and crisp sound effects; it is sure to be an enjoyable way to pass time.
