With their indie titles, NEXT Studios have already proven several times that they have a knack for cool gameplay and chic designs. The co-op puzzle adventure game from Biped effortlessly joins the ranks and brings a lot of gaming fun into the living room at home.

Review:
With Biped we have the next Ko-op Indie Game coming up. After A Way Out or Octodad showed some time ago that real couch-coop games are back in fashion, the cute Biped follows with two equally cute two-legged robots and is especially fun for two.

You can also play Biped alone with one of the little bipeds, which is partly also challenging and fun, but actually the game is primarily designed for co-op. Here you have to light the beacons in eight levels (+ some bonus challenges) to make the inhabitants of these worlds happy again. The way is not always so easy and creative. The controls are very simple, because you only need the analogue sticks of the PS4 and so you take turns waddling, which not only looks funny, but also takes some getting used to. The little robots can also glide on smooth surfaces.

Apart from typical jump'n'run (you can't jump here by yourself) tasks like crossing chasms, collecting stars and coins, you have to work together and handle various switches and materials. Tricky will be when platforms are marked pink or blue, which means that only the robot can step on them. But be careful! If you stand on it with one leg, the colour changes and so you have to take turns step by step and coordinate yourself if you don't want to fall into the abyss. In the snow world you are connected with a rope like two mountaineers and can thus swing the other one over abysses, while in the river world you try to master different tasks with two boats. It is not uncommon that not everything is coordinated at first and really funny situations arise. And so we had a lot to laugh about during our test time.

In order not to rush through the eight, but manageable levels right away, there are still challenges to be fulfilled! You have to find all the stars hidden in the level and complete the whole thing again in a very short time or keep the number of failed attempts as low as possible. If you have completed the worlds, there are some extra tricky challenges to be solved. And even if the worlds in the co-op and single player are actually the same, they are of course adapted, since you can't master the co-op tasks logically alone. However, it doesn't get any easier, as the developers at NEXT Studios have already come up with a lot of ideas. In addition, with the collected coins, you can buy some embellishments for the two little protagonists.

Conclusion

Biped may not bring any big innovations, but with the fun gameplay it makes the often tricky tasks and the co-op action a lot of fun for a few hours. But if you face the time and failure challenges, you can of course invest some more hours. In short: For little Obulus, Biped is a really entertaining game for the couch-coop, which is much too neglected nowadays anyway.

Would you recommend this to other users? Great funny game but a little to short
