Darkest dungeons is a brutal game that I have played, and if you think its challenging enough, try darkest dungeons 2. Darkest dungeons is a game where you must complete your call from your ancestor, to slay the soon inevitable horror in what is called the darkest dungeon, but you always start off with 2 unexperienced men with the worst equipment, for money you must complete dungeon expeditions such as scouting (a usually more calm quest where combat is not necessary), clearing a dungeons, (complete all room battles, hallway battles excluded) or collecting artifacts, food or purifying shrines. these quests can vary from short to long, though short expeditions are safe, it cannot be enough to upgrade a heroes equipment nor their veterancy, but long expeditions require more supplies and less loot, as hunger, bleeding, blight and death will constantly gnaw on heroes, chipping away at their sanity and health. This game is constantly unforgiving, as death of heroes are permanent (unless you get a rare event, being presented 3 options to revive your heroes with the highest veterancy, but all equipment and skill are reset.) along with their resolve level, and the money you have invested in them. Hacking and slashing won't win you battles for long, but tactics do the trick. AOE damage to instantly kill a row of weak enemies, or bleeding or blight on heavily armoured enemies, mark to increase damage and accuracy on certain enemies, and some skills to reduce accuracy and/or dodge to evade or kill an enemy more efficiently. This game really is one of a kind and you should try it out. It is really exciting and engaging for hardcore gamers who love a challenge.
