Dead Cells is a 2d roguelite action game. It is a game where you are expected to die alot, while also learning and improving in the process.
Review:
You play as some sort of slime that are created from a experiment and has gained sentience. You are able to possess corpse and control them, hence the reason for your ability to revive and play over and over again. As you progress through the game and defeat horde of weird-looking enemies and strike down powerful bosses, you will collect a special type of resources that are called Cell. You can use those Cell to unlock many types of weapons and evolution to aid you on your adventure. Another thing you can collect is special items called Rune. These Runes allow you to interact with the environment in various way, such as unlocking hidden path or destroying the map to kill monster. After you kill the final boss in the game, it doesn't end there. They will drop a special Cell called Boss Cell (Boss Stem Cell), which will unlock a higher level of difficulty, preventing the game from going too stale and repetitive. While the gorgeous pixel art helped portrayed the world and create a fitting atmosphere for the game, the soundtrack and sound effect help the immersion. Onto the gameplay, Dead Cells is a 2d action game with some platform elements where you can slash, dodge and slam your way through enemies. Your main attack come from 2 weapons that you can collect, ranging from giant broadswords to slender rapiers, hefty shield to fancy shoes or multi-shot bow to throwables. Each weapon has an affinity for one (or 2) of three stats, each of which you can level up by using Scrolls that are littered through the levels. Along the two weapons you carry, you can also carry two more traps which can assist the players in killing enemies. The bosses in this game are very tough to kill and can deal a large amount of damage in just one hit depending on which boss it is, so to defeat them you will need a good character build, a reasonable mix of skill and reaction time, and sometime even luck. It is an incredible game, and for most of the time, the control can keep up, although you may find some moments where the control fail to respond and you may suffer from this malfunction. In overall, this is a pretty good mobile port from the PC game.
