Name of the movie you are reviewing: Dunkirk (2017)
During World War II, soldiers from the British Empire, Belgium and France try to evacuate from the town of Dunkirk during a arduous battle with German forces.
Review:
Another war film, it's visual is reaaaally good.
Story:
Well, the actual premise is real, and it is interesting nonetheless.
The movie started tense, and it managed to keep the intensity high, without boring the audiences.
It's not a war film that goes to guns, killing, and action sequences but more on surviving. People who don't know that may be disappointed with the film.
One of the problems that people saw on the film was the lack of character development, but it wasn't meant to be that kind of film.
Visual:
Okay. People who wanted to be a pilot probably appreciated the visual of the film, because I did so too.
The scenes involving the airplanes were top notch, the camerawork, with the tilting camera, felt like you were in the airplane.
The location, was really great. What I kept thinking while watching this film was 'I think literally every frame of the film can be a desktop wallpaper because it is so good.'
I loved the color of the film, it felt weird, but it didn't bother me. Although, if you're a color buff editor or just notices the colors often, you can see a bit of inconsistency.
Music:
This movie won awards for their music editing, and I cannot say that I am not surprised.
I don't like movies with a full blown music (or atleast the not so well edited kind) and I was pleased with how subtle and yet effective the audio was in the film.
It added a certain intensity, which was good for a film that almost rarely relaxes.
This movie is directed by Christopher Nolan, one of my favorite directors. (Interstellar 2014, The Dark Night 2008, Inception 2010, The Prestige 2006, I could go on...) I can really tell that it was directed beautifully.
I can tell this isn't for everybody, I can't quite put my finger on it, if it's the tense pacing or something else, but this movie can be meh, but can also be enjoyable.
It has its flaws, but it is still really good.
Would you recommend this to other users? It's a good film, the visuals is good, the music, if you watch it, you'll understand.
