Out Run is an arcade/racing game released for the Master System in 1987, followed by a sequel for Mega-Drive and a Remake for Playstation 2 (Out Run 2006 – Coast 2 Coast).
Review:
Unlike other racing games, your objective is not to race against other cars and reach 1st place, in it you go through a track that has a beginning and an end (Fork). In each track you have a set time to reach the next Checkpoint (Start of the next track). Remember that in this game there is no placement, you overtake other drivers just to earn more points.
Strengths: Good graphics; Good gameplay and great soundtrack, with its 3 songs: Passing Breeze, Splash Wave and Magical Sound Shower.
Weaknesses: Some scenarios repeat themselves over multiple tracks.
Tips:
– The lanes to the right are easier.
– When your speedometer bar turns red, press down to switch to fast gear.
– Remember to downshift every time you roll over or hit a car.
– You will start with a time of 80 seconds on the 1st track. When you pass a Checkpoint, you will get a 60 second bonus, except for the last 5 lanes, where your bonus is only 40 seconds.
– In each track it is necessary to dodge the other cars on the track, if you are at high speed your car will spin and lose control, if you are slow you will just lose some speed.
– Remember to avoid any kind of collision, both in cars and in objects on the track.
– Each of the last 5 stages has a different ending (See section Guides -> Endings).
– Every car you overtake will give you 20,000 points in the final score. Every second left when you finish the track will be multiplied by 1,000,000 points at the end.
