Over the years several different DS Systems have been released.

Here is the original Nintendo DS which was released on November 21st, 2004.

Here is the DS Lite released on June 1st 2006:

Here is the Nintendo DSi which was released on November 1st 2008.

Here is the Nintendo DSi XL Which was released on November 21st 2009.

All of these DS consoles had the strict capability to play 2D DS games and were able to play Game Boy Games as well.

In order to bring in 3D games, Nintendo released the 3DS on March 25th, 2011 the 3DS Console also had the ability to play regular DS games as well:

On October 12th of 2013, the 2DS was released to allow players to play 3DS games without the 3D function.

I love my 3DS too. Right now I'm in the middle of replaying Majora's Mask (again).

I love Ocarina of time too. They made it a little easier on the 3ds version though
