to be fair, baking is very unforgiving. it's like chemistry in a lot of ways, and you have to take into account all sorts of things like elevation or humidity depending where you live. my husband likes to bake and even if he follows a recipe exactly sometimes it still doesn't come out right because of something seemingly minor.
