Hello, community. I'm an 'oldhead' (50+ years of age) and I've played a plethora of games since childhood. I have a ton of memories of my love for games such as my 100+ hours to complete FF IX because I wanted to uncover every secret or beating the hidden boss in Super Mario RPG on the SNES.

One of my most memorable video game moments is the day I saved enough money to buy a Sega Genesis game console at Toys R Us. I worked at Wendy's at the time and it took me a while to get the cash. I couldn't get a ride to Toys R Us so I decided to ride my bike to the store and I got my cousin to ride with me for protection (I didn't want my Genesis stolen...yeah, I didn't live in the best neighborhood). It was a long ride to the store and one funny part of the story that I can't forget is when my cousin said he was thirsty and we stopped at a Wilson's Creek convenient store during the ride (Rochester, NY, for those who know). I didn't want to spend too much because I wanted to make sure I had enough for the Genesis where I bought one can of generic orange soda (it was cheap so I could've bought 2 cans) and we SHARED the soda :-D He called me cheap and still can't let that go to this day! Haha!

Long story short, I bought the Genesis and it came with Altered Beast. I played the heck out of that game and every other game I bought for the Genesis. I still remember turning into Super Sonic after getting all of the Chaos Emerald gems in Sonic 2, which I still think is the best Sonic game ever made for that reason alone. Phantasy Star 2 was great, too.

Fast forward to today and I'm still playing Genesis games through emulation. The games I couldn't afford I now have in ROMs and I play the heck out of those games. It's a great time to be alive to be able to play some great games.

"The story:
Even though I also had a Gameboy where I spent hours playing Mario and Pokemon, The most significant game, the one who made me stay, the one I had to socialize and even made me learn a whole new language (English), from a gifted N64: The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. These games (+ Twilight princess) mean the world to me, not only because of the eventual tragedy of growing up and realizing this is a very sad story, but because it also started my most personal bittersweet story to this day.

Yet, the idea that led me to make this was:
Link, a young man, with the body and mind of a child, forced to grow and bear the biggest responsibility there was, but at least he wasn't entirely alone, he was granted a companion, a Fairy. So he is a boy, barely even able to process the feelings of being an outsider, only to be thrown into the loss of everything he knew, forgotten by almost everyone around him by the time he saved the entire kingdom, none of that by his own choice, the cruelty of a war from the past gnawing at everyone around him, the first times he had meeting anyone outside the forest were of troubles caused by the very same thing. He grows the ultimate courage to go on and defeat this evil only to be forgotten and left without a home, and by the same divine grace thrust upon him by the goddesses, his fairy companion has to leave now.
Of course the first thing would be to cling on to her, to look for her ¿for how could the Goddesses demand even that from him? And in his pursuit, he meets a terrible fate, one where he can no longer be the hero again, for he cannot save everything or everyone, now Time is not really an ally, a nearly endless loop where every step matters and choices turn heavy but he once again manages to defeat this new ancient evil.
He, as every Hyrulean, eventually grows up into a fine man, marked by loss, desolation and wars past, ends up doing the only thing he learned: to keep fighting. Never being able to return home and knowing so he still tries, one last journey to those childhood memories filled with happy carelessness, the greenest grass, the tallest trees, into the lost woods...But we know what happens to those who enter there.
A Stalfos now, by centuries unresting, until his knowledge has been passed to the next hero, howls his wise song...until the very end.

Oh, but what a joy it could have been! if only they were granted just a few more time together...if only."

A small sampling of artwork I've done for the Atari console.
This goes back to my TSR/D&D days of drawing. A homemade module converted into an Atari game.
My main character fighting a goblin became the label for the cartridge.

This is more recent.
Over 3 dozen separate sketches were layered and rearranged many times until the publicist was happy. I also created the new Grey Games logo and redesigned the Gambler Games logo.
Nearly 2 years of work went into making the label.

HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY?
A pen and colour pencil sketch of an RCA 13' UHF/VHF early colour TV with Asteroids theme.

While I have made many games for many systems, Atari remains my favourite.

Hi everyone, this is my drawing for the Sbenny contest!

For me, the "best" and most definitive retro game has always been The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was the first game that truly felt magical, with an epic story and world that blew my mind as a kid.

My drawing captures one of my most memorable moments: the first major boss fight inside the Great Deku Tree against Queen Gohma. That dynamic moment when Young Link uses his slingshot and Deku Nuts to stun the giant, one-eyed monster was incredibly tense. I wanted to draw the dramatic pause right before he lands that critical sword strike, bringing the giant spider reeling to the ground. The scale and puzzle-solving nature of that first dungeon set the standard for the entire series.

I hope my interpretation brings back some great memories for all of you, too. Good luck to everyone, and thank you for organizing this event! I used some AI for this. Sorry if that's not allowed!

Woah! This is some serious skill!
I never really had the chance to play Atari, I wasn't around for that yet.
I really like the"sketch" like qualities of this work, not exactly sketch, because it is pretty clean and clear about what it wants to portray, but I lack the words for it hehe. It reminds me of the style of comics like Asterix and Obelix or even this game that had scenes by Don Bluth. It'd be nice to get to know more of this character and to play the game! Also, congrats on the massive works to make the publicist happy! I know how hard can it be to get it just right! hehe

I also loved these games! And this "ilustration style" fits so nicely with the feeling!
I see the stars are Pixel style, to add contrast? add more of a retro feeling? And I may not be so sure of why there is a banana there front center, that is not an element I particularly remember from this game, but I'd love to know more of your artwork and the story behind your choice for this moment, and even if you used AI, I'd like to know the process to curate this piece, the prompts, the AI you've used and how did this useful tool helped you achieve what you had in mind! So, if it is allowed I'd like to visit your social networks to see what else you've done!

Thank you for your kind works.
I think the banana as you call it is the alien mother ship.

I don't do social media.
I have shared a few doodles here on Sbenny.
I mainly worked with pencil or Bic pen, although I have worked in just about every medium from marble to TNT.
