Name of the movie you are reviewing: Squid Game

Squid Game is a South Korean survival drama television series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix.

Review:
Squid Game was recommended to me by a few users on the forum and I watched it in 2 days. That's how good it was. The premise of the series is that our protagonist Gi-hun, along with the other secondary characters are deeply in debt or need money for one reason or another and that time is running out for them. Then comes a miraculous solution to their problem; all are invited to partake in a series of games and, if they win, receive a huge reward, big enough to end their current problems. The catch? The eliminated players are killed.

The series gives us different perspectives from a core group of characters, each with all their troubles, qualities, and defects; all have a different reason for being there and some are more willing than others to do what it takes to win. There's a fair amount of twists here and there, enough to keep our attention through 9 episodes; it does a good job of subverting your expectations. Taking a deeper dive, the series has rather obvious critiques to the way South Korean actual society works, including critiques to the economic system with the high amount of debts and social inequality.

Overall, I would say the series is very good. It's very violent so if you're not a fan of blood or other graphical effects, I recommend you steer clear from it. Other than that, the plot is good enough to keep you entertained for a few days. The characters are realistic and have clear-cut motivations; you could see the same interpersonal conflicts happening if the games were to actually take place in real life. The pacing is ok, nothing that really bothered me. To conclude, I would say that it's worth a watch. It's very good and does a good job of telling what it wants to tell.

Would you recommend this to other users? Yes, absolutely. As long as you are not bothered by violence, it's a good series.

Aggariberri I love ur review of this film, but may I ask, do I have to be a fan of Korean movies to like this one cause I really hate Korean movies and I don't have much nostalgia for them, anyways I hope it's not a cliche Korean movie, I hope it's special

@Edwinchigozi I hadn't watched a single Korean movie before watching Squid Game. This was my first movie and it has exceeded my expectations. You don't need to be a Korean movie fan to watch it
