Name of the app you are reviewing: The Arcana: A Mystical Romance
A visual novel set in a mysterious land where magic is real. You have lost your memory and you have to figure out the mystery of what happened to you - and who killed the count.
Review:
I played this game early in its inception and fell in love with it. The art is lovely, the story was intriguing, and the characters were fun.
However, my problems began when I discovered their payment model, which is stunningly ridiculous. You'd have to pay around three times the price of an actual video game to select all of the premium choices for a single route. And there are many routes to pick from. Oh, and the romance side of things? You can't get that for free. Each romantic choice is premium.
They advertise entirely with paid content, but claim it isn't necessary to enjoy the game. There are ways to get free coins, such as a daily gatcha with undisclosed odds that never gave me any coins. The staff refuses to listen to these complains from its many users. I will only be playing it with heavy modification.
Aside from these issues and some general dissatisfaction with the staff, the game is a delight. Each character design draws the eye, the art is well done, and the graphics look lovely. The story is intriguing and exciting. Even minor characters earn their attention through being interesting and well written! The mystical side of things is right on point too.
It's a good game. Just don't pay for it.
