Name of the movie you are reviewing: The Rise of Skywalker
This is the last movie of the sequel trilogy, supposed to give all SW fans proper closure, since it was revealed that episode 9 (this movie) would be the end of the Skywalker saga.
Throught press tours and the like, JJ Abrams made many promises, and the movie - to say more here would be to spoil it - unfortunately doesn't deliver.
Review:
This movie starts well, but soon enough dives head into nonsensical plot contrivance and doesn't rise again, except for few marked scenes that make this particular viewer's heart bleed for the story we could have had.
Now, SPOILER SECTION BELOW:
I could have honestly tolerated many things. Many, many things. But the mess we got hurt my brain and there's no defense for it.
Were it to only try to defy the last movie, The Last Jedi, I would have understood. Rian Johnson's choices, especifically wrt Luke Skywalker angered many fans.
However, this went even further, retconning stuff from even The Force Awakens, which was directed by JJ Abrams as well. This has many issues, but asides from no character beyond Ben Solo|Kylo Ren getting any sort of arc (and his own being nullified and rendering void the undoing of the happy ending Return of the Jedi left us with by his sudden, unnecesary death), the lack of supervision or consultation with the Lucasfilm storygroup shows in every ployhole that could have been fixed with something as easy as a Google search.
The choice of title also becomes extremely insulting by the end. Episode 1 and Episode 9 should really trade titles. Or Ep 9 should be "Rise of Palpatine" instead.
Would you recommend this to other users? Definitely not. Or at least, don't go to the theatre/cinema to watch it, 'cause it's not worth your money, by far.
If your curiosity still compells you to watch it, save the money of a ticket.
