Amazon today announced three new Echo Dot models, the standard Echo Dot, the Echo Dot with clock, and the Echo Dot Kids. The three models are essentially identical for the most part.
The standard Echo Dot now features a new custom full-range driver, which has the highest excursion of any Echo Dot and claims to deliver a clearer voice and double bass performance while being the same size.

The Echo Dot now also features a temperature sensor, which allows you to ask Alexa to turn on the smart fan when it’s too hot. There is also an accelerometer to enable touch gestures.
The most useful new feature will be the inclusion of mesh networking, courtesy of Eero, which Amazon acquired in 2019. The new Echo Dot models essentially act as a wireless mesh extender to improve Wi-Fi performance throughout the home with the Eero Built-in. Each unit can add 1000 square feet of coverage to the existing network.
Amazon will also add Eero Built-in functionality to its fourth-generation Echo and fourth-generation Echo Dot models, with the former receiving it on October 20 and the latter in the coming months.
The fifth-generation Echo Dot with clock is identical to the standard model, except that it features an updated high-density dot matrix display. In addition to the time, you can also see the name of the song title or artist currently playing, the time, a calculation or unit of measure, calendar event times, and more when you ask Alexa for information.

The Echo Dot Kids is identical to the standard Echo Dot but comes in two unique models, Owl and Dragon. Amazon Kids + subscribers will also receive new Alexa voices specific to the two variants. Get a one-year Amazon Kids + membership and two-year worry-free warranty.
The Echo Dot is priced at $ 50 and the Echo Dot with Clock and Echo Dot Kids are priced at $ 60 each.

Amazon also announced a new second-generation Echo Auto model for in-car use. This has a slimmer design and includes a new adhesive backing for greater placement flexibility. This is priced at $ 55.
