Sega has announced a live stream of Sonic Central to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. The live stream will take place Thursday, May 27 at 9:00 PT / 12:00 ET / 17:00 BST on Sega’s official YouTube and Twitch channels for Sonic the Hedgehog.
The broadcast promises “a first look at some of our upcoming projects, partnerships and events to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary!”
Among the upcoming games that could be discussed are Sonic Colors Remastered not yet announced (project news leaked in April via a German dubbing studio) and Sonic Collection for PS4 (rumored via a list since deleted in French retailer. SoGamely).
As for other media, livestream could cover upcoming live-action / CGI theatrical film sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the animated series Netflix Sonic Primeboth to be released in 2022.
The first Sonic the Hedgehog video game was released on June 23, 1991 on Sega Genesis.
On Tuesday, Sega posted a video on Twitter celebrating Sonic’s 30-year history with a nostalgic look at video games, comics, animated series and films released over the years.
