Following up on our pending review article, the time has come for us to take a closer look at the vivo X90 Pro and its benchmark scores. This is the first MediaTek Dimensity 9200 phone we’ve gotten our hands on and we were curious to see how it stacks up against the competition.

Like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 uses the ARM Cortex-X3 which boasts a main core clocked at 3.05Ghz (compared to the SD G2’s 3.2GHz) and based on the ARMv9 architecture . The remaining cores are as follows: 3 Arm Cortex-A715 performance cores clocked at 2.85GHz and 4 Arm Cortex-A510 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
The new chip is made on TSMC 4nm second generation (N4P) process and has the ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU with its hardware-based ray tracing engine.
| MediaTek Size 9200 | |
| Processes | TSMC 4nm (N4P) |
| Core first | 1 Cortex-X3 at 3.05Ghz |
| Performance cores | 3 Cortex-A715 at 2.85GHz |
| Efficiency Cores | 4 Cortex-A510 cores @ 1.8GHz |
| GPUs | ARM Immortalis-G715 |
| RAM | LPDDR5x up to 8533Mbps |
| Warehousing | UFS 4.0 |
With the specs out of the way, let’s get into the benchmark results. Note that the X90 Pro has a 1260 x 2800 px display while some of the other phones in the list run at lower/higher resolutions. Our review unit comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and runs Android 13-based Funtouch OS 13.

Starting with Geekbench 5 CPU Test: The X90 Pro achieved an impressive feat of 4,273 multi-core points and 1,387 single core points. The single core score is neck and neck with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powered Galaxy S23 Ultra and Red Magic 8 Pro, while the multi-core department sees a more substantial lead, especially with the Red Magic 8 Pro. Sure, the Red Magic 8 it has a substantial cooling system with a built-in fan. The Dimension 9200 offers substantial advantages over its predecessor (Dimension 9000+) found in the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate.

GPU specific tests have been performed GFXBench it showcases the power of the new ARM Immortalis-G715 which placed second in all on-screen tests just behind the Red Magic 8. The Dimensity also went head-to-head with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones in off-screen tests.
In summary, the Dimension 9200 is a true flagship chipset and a worthy rival to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Our benchmarks show it to be around 30% faster in CPU benchmarks than the previous Dimension 9000+ and 20% faster in the GPU department.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 outperforms the Dimension 9200 chip in most cases, but still keep in mind that synthetic benchmarks aren’t indicative of real-world performance. We’re also expecting more Dimensity 9200 phones to launch later this year, and it’ll be interesting to see how they fare in these tests.
