The excitement for Battlefield 2042 has grown thanks to occasional leaks and short trailers. But now, DICE has fully revealed the game for E3 2021, and here’s everything we know so far.
The Battlefield 2042 trailer
While we will have a game trailer unveiled this Sunday, the aforementioned trailer uses the game’s graphics engine and gives a great idea of what this title will look like.
Battlefield 2042 release date and platforms
Battlefield 2042 will arrive on many platforms. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC on October 22nd.
Battlefield 2042 plot
As the name suggests, this game takes place in the near future of 2042. In this future, global warming has devastated much of the world and has thrown nations around the world into chaos. And as part of this chaos, America and Russia are recruiting those who have lost their homelands (these people are known as Non-Patricians, or “No-Pats”) to fight their battles.
Battlefield 2042 weapons
The various weapons and armor in the game are fictional, but most of them are intended to be an evolution of the weapons and technology available today. This includes technologies like robotic dogs and armed drones that will look very familiar to any enthusiast of high-tech equipment.
Battlefield 2042 multiplayer
The multiplayer in this game looks very ambitious. Next-generation PCs and consoles will support 128-player games. Meanwhile, the PS4 and Xbox One versions are limited to 64-player games. The maps are bigger than ever and you can sort ground vehicles as needed to get to your destination.
And these maps are expected to have dynamic weather conditions that dramatically change the landscape. Think about what a tornado could do on the battlefield and you’ll have a good idea of the gameplay. In addition, the destruction and deformation of the soil helps to emphasize what the weather, vehicles and weapons are doing to the soil.
While the game’s underlying story sounds interesting, it won’t have a single-player campaign mode. However, DICE has promised more multiplayer modes to keep you coming back for more.
