Black Myth: Wukong is a Souls-like game slated for release in 2023. While it may seem like a long time from now, you can watch the gorgeous gameplay trailer for the game today.
The name of the game partly refers to the name of the protagonist, Sun Wukong. That name translates to “The Monkey King” and in the trailer you can see the king himself take on packs of flying villains. There are also battles against much larger enemies that evolve some of the most intense battles in the Dark Souls franchise.
If you’re into action games, there seems to be a lot of variety in this new title. First, we see Wukong wielding many different weapons that seem to play very differently. And the trailer also shows some magical abilities (like freezing enemies). It is still unclear whether such skills are standard or the result of a specific character build.
This game is in development on the Unreal Engine and will be released in 2023. So far, it is unknown on specific platforms the game will be released on. A PC version is very likely and we would be very surprised if you can’t play this title in a couple of years on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
The wait for 2023 can seem a long time, especially after seeing that killer trailer. But you don’t have to wait that long to find out more about the character. This Monkey King is based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. That story received numerous translations and adaptations and served as the inspiration for a more contemporary “Monkey King”: Goku from dragon ball series!
