The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 changed the gaming landscape and helped turn CD Projekt Red into a force to be reckoned with. Now, the developer is ready to release the next generation ports of these games soon, along with other surprises.

In a recent press release, the developers leaked some useful information for gamers. CD Projekt Red clarified that a next-generation port of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S is “slated for release in the first quarter of 2022 along with another major update for all platforms”. In addition, “there is also work in progress on the next generation version of The Witcher 3”.

So, it looks like we’ll see new ports and updates for Cyberpunk 2077 between January and March, and The Witcher 3 between April and June.

In less exciting news, CD Projekt Red discussed other developers who have joined their company: Digital Scapes and The Molasses Flood. The latter will be responsible for “a separate game based on one of CD Projekt Red’s IPs”.

Less surprising of all, the press release noted that the drop in profits was related to “Cyberpunk upgrade expenses” following its disastrous launch. But they also blame the drop on “exploratory work on new projects that are in an early stage of development,” which could signal the company’s even more influential IPs in the future.

Meanwhile, players can focus on enjoying games like The Witcher 3 with better load times and ray tracing (and the next-gen version will be a free upgrade if you already own the title on Xbox One or PS4). These new features may also be enough to get us to stop playing Gwent and start carrying out missions in our backlog!
