Epic Games has released a brand new update for its Fortnite battle royale game, replacing the hand cannon with a rapid-firing machine gun.
While the official patch notes don’t mention the weapon changes, the SMG is definitely back on Fortnite just in time for the release of Season 6.
The v15.50 update also adds a number of new features. This includes the large islands for creative games, which are 25% larger than the previous islands available to players.
Epic Games also confirmed that they have plans to localize content created in the Creative Hub. Any content already in English will be translated into the 13 languages supported in Fortnite. This process will start with the hubs in the foreground first, but will later expand to more content.
The update also addresses a number of bugs, such as an issue where a party leader could not interact with matchmaking portals and a glitch that gave shotguns the wrong rarity during matches. Meanwhile, the Medusa has been made available again, although Rift Fish is still disabled as Epic Games investigates the issues surrounding the new item.
While there is no official release date for Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 6 yet, it should launch soon after March 15, as the Season 5 Battle Pass ends that day.
