Performance

Unsurprisingly, Warhorse’s massive open-world RPG has its fair share of bugs. Such a massive undertaking can be forgiven by the occasional disappearance of the head. However, I can’t forgive that the search indicators don’t fire, which happens too often for convenience. This frustration is further compounded by a rare autosave system that could easily wipe out 30 minutes of gameplay following a mechanical error or normal game over.

Now, to give credit to what’s due, Warhorse has fixed many of the more annoying bugs. While visually striking, Kingdom Come: Deliverance isn’t particularly well optimized on any system. High-end PCs may have a hard time running RPG at the highest settings.

Final verdict

While certainly not for everyone, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is ambitious and unique. Warhorse Studios has designed the authentic medieval adventure that will probably never be produced. Henry’s journey encompasses a myriad of interesting places, characters and stories. As situational and intimidating as the combat can be, the mechanics have come together frequently enough to overshadow the most frustrating encounters. While the technical and optimization issues are disappointing, they don’t come close to ruining Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
