Neverwinter Nights 2 review

This review focused on Neverwinter Night 2 “out of the box”. And there’s nothing wrong with simply enjoying the game for the character jokes and interesting storyline.

However, the real selling point of Neverwinter Nights 2 is the modding community. And while there are various graphical enhancements and UI enhancement mods, the real fun comes from custom adventures.

Just like with the board game, enterprising GMs could design their own standalone adventures or even ongoing tales. And if you’re getting into the game right now, you actually have 13 years of great mods to choose from.

Ultimately, the mods really push this game over the edge. In addition to a compelling story and characters, there’s a never-ending stream of new content from fans waiting to be discovered.

Final verdict

Even though it has some warts, Neverwinter Nights 2 is still worth playing. If nothing else, this game will be remembered as Bioware at the top of its game. And it remains an amazing love letter to fans, all these years later.
