Game
There is a surprising amount of mechanics at play in Judgment. Of course, combat has a great focus in the game. Yagami often finds himself the target of various thugs just walking down the street. These events give you the chance to try out the different moves and fighting styles you can invest in using experience points.
Combat is comfortable and smooth. This makes encounters fun and exhilarating. Although getting distracted by random fights it starts to get a little annoying after a while. There are ways to fend off enemies, but having to actively invest in those bonuses might annoy some players.
As a private investigator, the player will also have some detective work to do. Scanning of areas of interest is a common occurrence. This can be done from the ground or via a drone high above the roads. These moments help break up the gameplay a bit and never get past their welcome.
On the other hand, Judgment also includes stalking missions. Considering the narrative, these missions make a lot of sense. That doesn’t make them fun, though. Easy, time-consuming and uninteresting, queue events in Judgment can kill the fun. Fortunately, these moments are few and far between, as well as short.
One thing I liked was the chase segments. During these, the player chases a character or object that runs away from them. Ironically, they’re not that different from stalking missions, but they’re presented at a faster pace. Some of these events can actually feature some pretty cool parkour moments as well.

Final verdict
Judgment is a great game with a lot to offer the player. The story presents an intriguing mystery with some good twists. The gameplay is fast and fluid with lots of potential for upgrades and challenges. Plus, the content found in Judgment is hugely entertaining and fun to try.
Of course, some older game elements don’t work as well as they might. Fortunately, these problems are overshadowed by the rest of the game. All in all, Judgment should satisfy fans of the action and adventure genres, as well as fans of the Yakuza series.
