Bowser’s Fury

Some players are reluctant to buy new ports of older games, especially if they already own the original. To help win over those players, Nintendo has added a new game to this pack called Bowser’s Fury.
Now, this game is more of an appetizer than an appetizer as it takes so little time to complete. It has more limited multiplayer than Super Mario 3D World. While that game can have up to four players playing simultaneously, this is limited to two players.
The storyline is fun, with Mario teaming up with Bowser, Jr. (who can be controlled by a friend or just by the AI). And the “fury” of the title comes when Bowser wakes up and starts firing bullets at him. These pose a danger to players and can even change the map structure at the worst possible moment.
Relatively speaking, the puzzles and challenges in this game are pretty straightforward. But the levels are fun and the drawings are cute. I especially liked the Cat Shines you have to find in this mode, which should be really fun for anyone who has loved 3D World cat suits.
In short? Bowser’s Fury by itself is not a compelling reason to buy this game. But as a fun little “extra” on top of the awesome 3D world, it’s a welcome addition to the Switch library.
Final verdict

When it first came out in 2013, Super Mario 3D World was a revelation. It was a Mario killer title that I could play with my friends and family. And it seemed like the most refreshing Mario title to come out in many years.
That said, I liked the Switch port even more than the original. It’s faster, has online multiplayer, and even includes a great new game. Whether you are a Mario fan or just fun action platformers, this title is a must have.
