Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Studios is working on more than 25 different games for the PlayStation 5. Nearly half of these are brand new IPs rather than sequels or continuations of previous franchises.
Speaking in an interview with Wired, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst confirmed the number of projects currently in development. “There is an incredible amount of varieties originating from different regions,” Hulst said. “Big, small, different kinds.”
It is currently unknown what most of these games are. However, Sony previously announced that God of War: Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart are in the works.
There have also been persistent rumors of a remake of The Last of Us for PS5 along with new projects from Jade Raymond and Firewalk Studios.
More light could be shed on these new games in the coming weeks as E3 2021 approaches June 12-15.
