It is iPhone 16e day and we have been insistent enough to get one on the launch day! Apple boldly states “the last iPhone. Maximum price”. But that announcement works better in the United States or in the United Kingdom, where the phone starts from $ 599/£ 599. In Europe there are € 699 in Germany, € 719 in France, € 729 in Italy, which is not exactly a deal for a phone, and is dangerously close to about 2024 Android flagship with higher specifications.

The iPhone 16e is a compact phone for today’s standards. But the first feeling of many people when they take it in hand is that it is bigger than they expected. Perhaps they are the weeks of losses related to iPhone if, who have conditioned us to expect a tiny phone.
But the iPhone 16e is much larger than the iPhone Se (2022). With a 6.1 -inch display, it is more or less identical with the iPhone 16.
Passing to the world of Android, the iPhone 16e is as large as the Galaxy S25 – the Samsung is 0.2 mm higher, 1 mm wider and more often 0.6 mm, but it is lighter. The Galaxy also contains a larger 0.1 -inch display thanks to the thinner frames.
As for the quality, it is not even a competition: the display of the Galaxy S25, despite being less dense pixel, becomes much brighter and is twice faster at 120Hz.

Back to the iPhone. Apple always presents a positive narrative when it comes to its devices, but the 16E is more than a little compromised compared to its peers. The first thing you will notice is the notch of the old school, now also gone on the iPhone 16 base.
At least neither of the two iPhone 16 has a display greater than 60Hz. We must say that the slowest refresher frequency is evident: the animations are moved.
The other important downgrade is the camera: singular, because you only get one. The 48 MP snapper may seem like the same, on paper, like the main one on the iPhone 16, but has a smaller 1/2.55 inch sensor for the 1/1.56 -inch 16 imager.
You should expect tangibly lower 2x zoom on the camera from 16th compared to 16.
To finish this first glance at a positive note, the iPhone 16e seems well done like any other iPhone: you are really getting a premium experience from this. Slow screen update on the side, the phone is also fast and capable. The Apple A18 is a powerful SOC, even if 1 core GPU falls on this phone: it will surely slap any application that you can launch it.
