Apple is finally ready to open a series of Apple Stores in India. The company is hiring for 12 positions in “various locations in India”, including technical specialists, business experts, senior managers, store leaders and “geniuses”. Some new hires have already shared the good news on LinkedIn, which seems encouraged by Apple, as the company’s head of recruiting in India, Renu Sevanthi, has linked to some of them.
It hasn’t been easy for Apple to get to this point. It planned to open its first physical store soon after the online store goes live in 2020, but it was pushed to 2021, which was later pushed further to 2022.
India had some strict requirements for foreign companies, which inhibited Apple. iPhones had to be made in India and 30% of the products sold in stores had to be made in India as well. The latter requirement was dropped, while Apple began manufacturing the iPhone 13 locally.

This resulted in the iPhone 13 becoming the best-selling model in India in the third quarter, which marked the potential for Apple’s future success in India.
It’s unclear how many Apple Stores will open in the country or in which cities, but we’ll no doubt hear more about them in the coming months.
