Global smartphone shipments continued to plummet during the January-March period with 269.8 million units shipped according to the latest report from Canalys. The figure is 13% lower than the same period last year and continues the negative trend seen in recent quarters due to a mix of factors including inventory build-up and limited consumer demand.

Samsung shipped 60.3 million smartphones in Q1, which translated to a 22% market share. Samsung’s refreshed Galaxy S and Galaxy A portfolios led to the rebound. Apple came in second with 58 million shipments and 21% market share. Cupertino continues to see strong demand for its iPhone 14 Pro series and was the only vendor on the list with positive annual growth. Xiaomi rounds out the top three with 30.5 million shipments and 11% market share, but it also boasts the biggest decline in market share year-on-year.
