The latest update to the Samsung Galaxy Watch series gives them even more control over the gadgets in your smart home. Works with Samsung and third-party devices that integrate with the SmartThings platform.

The update (v1.1.08) is rolling out to Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro, as well as Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic.

Once installed, the clocks can control the thermostat by setting the heating or cooling setpoint temperature. You can also open and close the automatic blinds or adjust their level manually. Additionally, you can control the fan speed of the air purifiers in your home. And if you’ve lost something with a SmartTag attached, you can set the tag to ring (and then stop ringing).

The latest update allows Samsung Galaxy Watch to control your SmartThings gadgets

One cool feature allows the clock to stream video from your home and doorbell cameras. Works with Ring and Nest cameras that support WebRTC. For example, if someone rings your doorbell, you can see who it is on your watch and even talk to them.

The update also allows the Galaxy Watch to control Samsung smart TVs, at least those that support Bluetooth (you also need to be in range of Bluetooth for this to work). Accessing SmartThings controls is easy, just swipe right on the watch face.

By the way, Samsung has recently joined forces with other manufacturers using the Matter protocol, which has expanded the number of devices that can connect to the SmartThings network. And announced the new SmartThings Station, a multifunctional hub for those just starting to build their smart home.
