The Indian smart wearables market saw a whopping 80.9% increase in shipments in Q1 2023 compared to last year.

According to an IDC report, more than 25 million wearables were shipped to India during the months of January to March – a notable year-over-year improvement but flat quarter-over-quarter, thanks to a solid Q422.

Smartwatches have seen a nearly 180% spike in shipments, with the basic smartwatch accounting for 98% of the total segment. Earphones also grew 48.5% over last year, with TWS earphones taking up nearly 64%.

The smart wearable bracelet alone saw a nearly 87% drop in shipments, going from 259 million to just 34 million units shipped.

According to IDC’s numbers, boAt had the largest share at 25.6% after more than doubling its shipments year-on-year. Boltt is second with 12.4% of the wearables market, followed by Noise with 11.9%, Boult Audio with 9.3% and Oppo (including OnePlus) with just 4.7%.
