It might be December 2022, but Motorola already has its sights set on 2023 and has just announced its Moto G Play 2023 for the US market. The phone is the successor to the 2021 first generation Moto G Play.

The second generation Moto G Play offers a 6.5-inch IPS TFT LCD with HD+ resolution (720 x 1600px) and a 90Hz refresh rate. The back houses a 16MP main camera. Motorola’s official spec sheet mentions an f/1.22 aperture for the main sensor, although that would be a notable move for a midranger and we’re more inclined to believe the actual value is f/2.2 instead. There’s a 2MP macro cam here and a 2MP depth module.

Other notable features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and IP52 water-repellent design.
