Earlier this week, during the I / O developer conference, Google released the second beta of Android 13 for its Pixels. At the same time, a group of other Android device makers also launched their respective developer preview programs or Android 13 beta. Although the announcement included mention of Nokia, at the time its developer website had not been updated, so we didn’t know which HMD Global stable device would be blessed.

Everything changes today, and it is the Nokia X20 that you can now test with Android 13 on board. Note, however, that HMD refers to this as a developer preview, not a beta, so perhaps the level of polish could leave a lot to be desired.

Also note that resetting Android 12 at any time will require erasing all your data, so be sure to back up before trying to try Android 13 DP. There is also the usual disclaimer about such builds that they may exhibit performance and / or stability issues, so deal with that at your own risk, of course.

If you really want to take the plunge, all you need to do is log into the My Device app on your Nokia X20, click the support banner below, and scroll down to the Android developer preview. So after a quick IMEI check, you’re good to go. The new build will arrive as an over-the-air update within 12 hours of your registration.

If you can’t wait that long, you can manually try to start the build starting 20 minutes after the registration process is successful by going to Settings> About phone> System updates. There is a Customer Feedback app pre-installed in Android 13 DP, through which you can report any problems encountered.

If at some point you need to roll back to Android 12, you can also request it through the My Device app.
