Samsung has revealed the Galaxy S25 edge – measuring only 5.8 mm, it has been the thinnest smartphone for years. In fact, no other phone released in the 1920s is immersed at less than 6 mm. This is not cheap, of course – here is a detailed price break. The edge is just the phone you were waiting for or is Samsung trying to force an expedient that will not understand?
If you lean towards the first, you will be happy to know that the Samsung Galaxy S25 edge impresses with something more than being thin – it is also very light. A single gram weighs more than the Galaxy S25 vanilla, despite the great disparity in the screen size (6.7 “against 6.2”). And it contains a 200 MP sensor in the main camera, something previously exclusive for Ultra models.
There are negative aspects, of course, such as the battery capacity: it is smaller than the S25 vanilla (3,900 mAh against 4,000 mAh). And it has the same slow recharge (wired of 25 W, 15 W wireless). There is no telephoto lens, it is based on the 200 mp unit for the zoom. And finally, it is expensive, also with the free storage update.
As usual, the offers on the oldest models dry for a week or two when a new model is launched. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra costs more than the edge right now, but should have returned to healthy price points in a week or two. Ultra is larger (8.2 mm, 218 g vs. 5.8 mm, 163 g), but also has a larger display (6.9 “) and a battery (5,000 mAh) with faster wired charging (45 W).
And the 200 MP camera is not alone when it comes to enlarged: there is a 10 MP (67 mm) canvas and a 111 mm (111 mm) teleuncel. It also has an ultra wide 50 MP camera, while the edge has a 12 MP base unit such as the Vanilla and Plus models.
There is talk that the edge will replace the Plus model in the Galaxy S range next year. This year, however, the Galaxy S25+ is a little cheaper, even without discounts. If you want an S25+, we recommend waiting for a week or two. The phone is larger (7.3 mm, 190 g against 5.8 mm, 163 g) despite having the same screen size. However, its battery is larger than 1,000 mAh (4,900 mAh) and faster 45 W recharge. Instead of a 200 MP camera, it has a 50 MP main telephoto lens and a 10 MP 3X (67 mm) telephoto lens.
While it is thin, the S25 edge is still 75.6 mm wide. The Samsung Galaxy S25 vanilla is 70.5 mm wide and weighs the same. Which phone is “smaller” in your mind? If it is the S25, you get the same hardware as the S25+, with the exception of the 6.2 “display and the 4,000 mAh battery (essentially of the same edge size).
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is another phone that competes with the ultra instead of with the edge. It measures a thickness of 8.5 mm and weighs 221 g with a 6.8 “display and a 5,060 mAh battery (loading 37w/23W). It has an ultra 37 W/23W wide camera). It has a 50 MP, 48 MP (113 mm) and 48 mp machine.
OnePlus 13 is in size close to the Ultra. But it contains a large 6.82 “display and a 6,000 mAh-Samsung battery has not yet exceeded 5,000 mAh. And this is with fast 80 W and 50 W wireless loading.
The little F7 Ultra is at MSRP right now, but his brother, the little F7 Pro, is up to € 120 discount at the moment and deserves a look. It is not exactly an EDGE competitor (8.1 mm in weight, 206 g of weight), but it is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone at affordable prices with a 6.67 “1440p+ 12 bit display and a large 6,000 mAh battery with 90 W recharge. The 50+ 8MP camera is nothing special.
The Realme GT 6 is € 90 cheaper and loses some performances with its Snapdragon 8S Gen 3. It has an excellent 6.78 “LTPO display (1264p+), plus a 5,500 mAh battery with recharging of 120 W. The cameras include a 50 mp (47 mm) resistance centimeter centimeter compared to the F7 Pro and its IP68, however.
Xiaomi 14t is in the same price class of the GT 6. Use the residence 8300 Ultra, which is a bit behind the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3. The configuration of the camera is similar to the GT 6 with a 50 MP Main (1/1.56 “vs. 1/1.4”) and 50mp canvases (50mm vs. 47mm), more a little better (12mp vs. 8mp). In addition, the 5,000 mAh battery is smaller and only makes a wiring charging at 67 W.
Xiaomi 14t Pro moves to a 9300+ Didica and its 5,000 mAh battery has a 120 W and 50W wired wireless charging. The 6.67 1220p+ OLED display with 12 -bit colors and update frequency at 144Hz is the same. The configuration of the camera is slightly better than the 14T with a larger 50 MP sensor (1/1.31 “) and a longer 2.6x lens for the 50 mp canvas (60 mm). Finally, Google Pixel 9a has a good discount if you are looking at the 128 GB version, not so much for the 256 GB model. In both cases, first student members can add an extra € 30 to the discount. And if you are trading with an old phone, you will get a € 100 bonus.
