The Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G was introduced earlier this month with a Snapdragon 695 chipset. The name will be seen mainly in European markets, while in Asia it will be known as Oppo Reno7 Z 5G.
We now have a unit to review and it is the prettiest rainbow colored version. It has a beautiful design that plays with light in such a way that the colors appear different when viewed from various angles.
The unit comes with a 33W charger and the appropriate cable. The Reno7 Lite is an extraordinarily light device with flat sides and a 6.43-inch screen which makes it pleasantly manageable. The front panel is AMOLED and Oppo has managed to place the fingerprint scanner underneath. The power key stays flat but only works to power the phone and wake the Google Assistant after a long press.
Oppo ships the phone with 8GB of RAM and the storage is 128GB, but just over 100GB is available to the user. The Reno7 Lite 5G accepts the microSD card slot in a hybrid slot – you have to choose a second SIM or memory card.
The camera design is typical of the Reno7 series with two bit circles within a rectangular island. Here only the main lenses protrude and swell more than usual because Oppo has implemented ring lights under the rims. The feature is called the Breathing Light (also marketed as an orbital light) and acts as a notification light.
Press materials claimed that it can “flash in a variety of colors for different scenarios” and can glow for 50,000 hours. 2 hours of flashing light can only take 1% of the battery, which is unlikely to affect the life span. However, we will test the device and report if these claims are correct.
The Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G costs around € 400 in Europe, which is slightly higher than the Reno7 Z in Thailand, which is THB11,880, which equates to € 320.
We are already working on the review, and will soon be ready with a verdict that these prices are worth it.
