RazerCon 2022 kicked off over the weekend and today CEO Min-Liang Tan formally announced the company’s first portable Android gaming console – the Razer Edge. The device was teased at the end of last month and is the first commercially available 5G handheld console with support for sub-6 Ghz and mmWave connectivity. The 5G versions will be exclusive to Verizon and will also support the LTE, UMTS, Global LTE and LTE Cat 22 bands.

The Razer Edge offers a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with FHD + (2400×1080) px resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. There is also a 5MP 1080P webcam up front. Razer uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chipset along with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 memory, expandable up to 2TB via the microSD slot. You can play Android games natively, stream PC games from your computer library, or play cloud titles from services like Xbox Cloud Gaming or Nvidia GeForce Now.

The Razer Edge comes bundled with the Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller which offers two analog sticks, a D-pad, 8 buttons, 2 triggers and 2 bumpers along with a pair of programmable and tactile HyperSense buttons. The controller also adds a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port.

The Razer Edge measures 260 x 85 x 11 mm and weighs 264 grams alone, while the Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller registers another 137 grams bringing the total weight to 401 grams. The software side is covered by Android 12 while the battery reaches 5,000 mAh.
The W-Fi-only Razer Edge edition costs $ 400 while the Founders Edition which includes the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless earphones (2021) costs $ 500. The 5G model is labeled as coming although its price is not yet confirmed. Buyers can pre-order a Razer Edge starting today by pledging $ 5 on the Razer website which will then be deducted from the console’s final price.
