If we go by a rumor from earlier this month, Samsung will fully reveal its VR headset codenamed Project Moohan on October 21st. So it’s no surprise that we’re finally getting some concrete information on what could be called the Galaxy XR. The leak contains official-looking renders and key specs.

The Galaxy XR will feature two 4K micro-LED displays with 4,032 ppi. Both displays combined will feature 29 million pixels, which is more than the 23 million pixels offered by Apple’s Vision Pro or Meta’s Quest 3 headsets.
The Snapdragon The glasses feature four sensors on the front and two on the bottom, used for hand tracking, along with a proximity sensor positioned near the forehead. This is mainly for security as it looks for physical boundaries such as walls, ceilings, furniture, etc.
Four cameras inside are tasked with eye tracking, but they also have the help of artificial intelligence to increase precision.
There are also a number of microphones that can distinguish your voice from surrounding sounds and also detect other people’s voices so you can hear them more clearly.

Moving on to the design, we see a very similar look to what we saw in January, when Samsung unveiled the headphones live. There are reportedly plenty of cushions inside that should make wearing the headphones more comfortable, and the headband is, of course, adjustable with the dial on the back.
The volume and power buttons are located at the top, and along the left side of the band runs a cable that connects to a power source, while the right side houses a touchpad. Battery life is said to be 2 hours with normal use and 2.5 hours with video playback only.
The entire system reportedly weighs 545 grams, which is a bit lighter than the Apple Vision Pro at 600-650 grams, but that’s 30 grams more than the Meta Quest 3.

The headset will come with a pair of controllers for more accurate hand tracking in virtual 3D environments while gaming, for example. Of course they will feature tactile feedback.

Last but not least, we get some screenshots of the One UI XR, if this will indeed be the brand of the software.

As we’ve already mentioned, the release date isn’t official yet, but rumors so far point towards the end of this month, October 21st, to be precise. As for pricing, rumors suggest a price of at least $1,800.
