Today, Samsung finally announced the date and time for its next Unpacked event, which will take place in South Korea on July 26th. During the event, the company will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip5, along with the Galaxy Z Fold5, the Galaxy Watch6 series. and the Galaxy Tab S9 family.
Now, the company is stepping up the teaser campaign for the event, with a new “global film” representing “Season 2” of the “Join the Downside” campaign (get it?). The first “season” was released last September, advertising the Galaxy Z Flip4.
That model is still featured prominently in today’s video, but only up to a point – spoiler alert, the Flip5 eventually takes its place, as it’s meant to do.
In case you didn’t get to watch the teaser, it’s a very cinematic affair, and not like your run-of-the-mill commercial or teaser video. In fact, it’s almost a horror movie, well, very short, but still.
Apparently the Z Flip devices possess “irresistible power over anyone” who lays eyes on them. Once you see one, you won’t stop thinking about it until you buy one – it sounds cheesy in writing, but the execution is actually quite fun here.
In Samsung’s own words, the film’s stars end up discovering that “the thing they fear most is actually the thing they want most” — whether that’s meant as a subtle jab at Apple fans, we’ll never know.
