Vivo S16 trio announced, S16 Pro brings Dimension 8200 and 50MP selfie cam

The vivo S16 range is official with three phones – the vivo S16 Pro leads the pack with its curved AMOLED display, Dimensity 8200 chipset and 50MP cams on the front and back. The vanilla S16 offers the same display and design, but with modified cameras and the outdated but still capable Snapdragon 870 chipset. The S16e is the budget entry in the lineup with an Exynos 1080 SoC and a 120Hz AMOLED display.

The S16 Pro and vanilla S16 both offer 6.78-inch curved AMOLED displays with 120Hz refresh and an impressive 50MP selfie shooter with autofocus and dual LED flashes housed above the notch. The vivo S16e opts for a smaller 6.62-inch flat AMOLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate and a 16MP selfie camera.

The rear camera setup on the S16 Pro features its 50MP main camera that uses the Sony IMX766V sensor and OIS. There is an 8MP ultrawide module here and a 2MP macro cam. Moving on to the vivo S16, we find the same familiar setup as the vivo S15: a 64MP main camera with PDAF and OIS along with an 8MP and 2MP ultrawide macro unit. The S16 has a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture along with a 2MP depth macro module and a 2MP depth camera.

MediaTek’s Dimension 8200 is at the helm of the new vivo S16 Pro, while the vanilla model gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip, which was also used on last year’s vivo S15. The S16e budget model also reuses the chipset found on its predecessor, Samsung’s Exynos 1080.

The batteries on all three phones top out at 4,600mAh and offer fast 66W wired charging. The vivo S16 and S16 Pro run Android 13 with OriginOS 3 on top while the S16e carries the dated Android 11 with Origin OS Ocean on top.

The vivo s16 pro is available in black and jade green colors and starts at CNY 3,299 ($472) for the 12/256GB trim. The top-end 12/512GB model will cost CNY 3,599 ($515).

vivo s16 is available in black, jade green and gradient colors. The base 8/128GB model starts at CNY 2,499 ($357) while the higher spec model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at CNY 3,299 ($472).

vivo s16e is available in black, jade green and purple colors. It starts at CNY 2,099 ($300) for the 8/128GB model and goes up to CNY 2,499 ($357) for the 12/256GB model.

Official sales of all three vivo S16 phones in China start on December 30th. There is currently no news on an international version.
