Today, WhatsApp announced the introduction of incognito chats with Meta AI. As the name suggests, these are private chats with the Meta chatbot within WhatsApp. And when we say private, we mean “truly private”, as Meta says: no one can read these chats, not even Meta (if you take their word for it, of course).

Interestingly, Meta says that other incognito-style modes for competing AI chatbots can’t compete because the creators of these chatbots “can still see incoming questions and outgoing answers.”
On the other hand, incognito chats with Meta AI are “processed in a secure environment that not even Meta can access.” These conversations are not saved and by default the messages within them disappear.
The next step, coming in the next few months, is “Private Computing Secure Side Chat.” These “side chats” will offer “private help with any chat, with context of what is being discussed, without interrupting the main conversation,” Meta says.
