Qualcomm has unveiled its new flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and manufacturers are now rushing to update their performance-oriented devices. Xiaomi has already presented the 12S series, and is also about to give us a Redmi phone with the new top chip.
Brand chief Lu Weibing, also known as William Lu, revealed on Weibo that there is a new Redmi K50 flagship in the works and will arrive “soon” with the Qualcomm platform.

Lu re-released an image that Xiaomi shared earlier, confirming a 33% better CPU efficiency of the Plus and 30% of the GPU. We expected the phone to be called the Redmi K50 Ultra but as the series is still aimed at the domestic market, we have hardly heard of a sequel.
Some reports suggest that the name will be Redmi K50S, similar to the Xiaomi 12S series. However in the past S has denoted a special member of the Redmi lineups rather than an upgrade.
