The recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset is finally available on a smartphone in China – the Redmi Note 12R is the first device to be launched with the latest mid-range chip. We already knew most of its key specs as the device was listed in China Mobile’s database last week.


Redmi Note 12T main specifications
Aside from the shiny new chipset and some minor camera differences, the Redmi Note 12R shares most of the key specs and design with the recently announced Redmi 12. There is a 6.79-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole 5MP front camera. The rear houses a 50 MP (f/1.8) main camera alongside a 2 MP macro module.

Redmi Note 12R comes with 4/6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB expandable storage via microSD card slot. The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging and launches MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

Redmi Note 12R is available in Midnight Black, Time Blue and Sky Fantasy colors. The 4/128GB base trim is priced at CNY 999 in China, which converts to $140 though you can also get the device for just CNY 99 ($14) on contract. Whether or not Xiaomi will bring the Note 12R out of China remains to be seen.
