Introduction and unboxing
This is Xiaomi’s S4 watch and is among the most customizable smartwatch you can get now. It is available in a single 47 mm version and in three colors – silver, gray and black, but its frame can be changed on the fly, giving you practically infinite options.
We have the rainbow model, which is a clearer shade than the black one. It comes with a unique black frame with colorful accents and a fluorobber belt with multicolored seams. The clock is € 170 at the time of this article.
Inside the retail box there is the clock, its strap and a 2 -pin magnetic magnetic charger. The charger uses the USB -A spina, which is disappointing in 2025. It is also slightly faithful to correctly attach the charger – rival watches such as Samsung Galaxy Watch and Huawei’s Watch also use a owner charger, but it is magnetic – just drop the clock at the top and forget it.
What’s inside the box
We also have the ceramic frame and the double tone dual belt kit, which completely reviews the appearance of the clock. The clock is also smarter on the exchange of frames – now there is a warning when removing the frame – the clock constantly vibrates until the frame on the clock is positioned. A welcome change, considering how easy it was to accidentally burst the frame on the S3 clock and lose it.
The case has a bayonet -style mechanism, in which the frame stops in position.
The additional camera frame and leather strap
Design and construction quality
Even better, Xiaomi went with a standard size of the 22 mm band, opening a world of possibilities for third -party straps and Xiaomi. Who doesn’t like variety?
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of 22 mm plug straps on Amazon, Aliexpress and the like, in real leather, fake skin, rubber, ballistic nylon and more. But there are also third -party frames for the S4 watch, so you can customize it in the content of your heart!
Xiaomi Watch S4 has a classic look. The frame is prominently on the round and protruding custody of a few mm above the screen glass cover, protecting it from scratches.
The case is made of an aluminum alloy, while Xiaomi does not specify anything about glass, but let’s imagine it has a certain level of scratch resistance.
While some watches use a more resistant and premium stainless steel for the outside, the aluminum used in the Xiaomi S4 clock allows a light package of only 44.5 g. In comparison, OnePlus Watch 3 is 49.7 g, while the classic Galaxy Watch6 is 59g.
The screen is a huge improvement compared to its predecessor. It is a 1.43 -inch 466x466px 60Hz unit which brought the old 600 nit up to 2,200 nit. It is an obvious giving: this panel will leave you anything, even in the brightest conditions.
There is an always active screen mode for each single watch face.
There are two checks on the right side of the Xiaomi S4 clock – one is the new rotating crown, which also acts by Pusher, and below there is another button that is found in wire with the custody.
The rotating crown adds a welcome level of control to the smartwatch. It is precise and has a nice vibrations feedback.
The controls
The combined sensor of heart rate and oxygen in the blood is located on the bottom of the clock (lights up in green and red). This is also where the two PINs are located for the magnetic charger.
The 1.43 -inch 466x466px AMOLED display is, again, superb – clear and bright. But it is Xiaomi’s effort in making sophisticated watches faces that make it even better. There are nine integrated faces, all of high quality, all with a myriad of widgets that can be customized for different data: battery life, steps, day of the week, etc.
Our only light complaint is that all the faces of watches are black – excellent for the resistance of the Amoled battery, of course – but we would also like some lighter faces. You can find many faces of additional watches in the Mi fitness app, so everything is fine.
Xiaomi Watch S4 is a bit unique as it is a large 47 mm watch, but also light. It is for the unique user who likes big but light! The S4 watch lends itself perfectly to the duty of a fitness or a sleep tracker.
On the other hand, the people who like a little weight at their watch will not be the greatest fans of this.
Xiaomi has equipped the S4 clock with Hyperos 2, with a connection of the device without continuity with Xiaomi’s intelligent hub. A push on the crown brings you to the app grid, another to the main clock screen. A blow from the top brings out the notifications, a blow down lifts the different widgets you have set: the activity card, heart rate, time, etc. Once you browsed widgets, arrive at the app grid.
Notifications are fundamental. Get a flow of floating messages that you can touch to see in full and then reject. You cannot answer from the clock and the Messenger emojis are not supported, so you get a strange symbol.
The unique thing of Xiaomi Watch S4 is that nothing happens when you flow to the left and right on the main screen (well, a shot on the left gives you a way to change the face of watches) – most of the other smartwatches have a disarmed interface horizontally, Xiaomi went with a vertical.
A push on the second button opens quick interruptions.
There are also gestures. You can rotate or shake the wrist or touch your fingers to get a series of customizable actions: refuse a call, take a photo (even if you need to open the camera app on the phone and also open an app for the clock camera) or open the meteorological app. We tried them, but we can’t say they constantly work.
Unfortunately, physical checks are not customizable: the crown and the button below it are set in their ways for life!
Fitness and sleep tracking, battery life
Xiaomi Watch S4 has excellent sports and health monitoring credentials, as you would expect. To name one -pager, you get more than 150 sports modes, including a personal running coach and even a professional ski mode (a rarity on many watches).
The S4 watch supports double band GPS, which uses both the largest L5 band and faster and more accurate to provide monitoring precision inside the counter. We reached the GPS block in about 40 seconds and the map data were very precise.
Fitness tracking
We are happy with fitness monitoring on Xiaomi Watch S4. The training screen is well defined with the time and intensity of the front and center of training. We also say that the monitoring of the heart rate was consistent with other brand’s fitness trackers.
This review has never been a fan of Xiaomi’s too zealous sleep tracking data. I have no more than 50 minutes of deep sleep per night, as established by years of daily monitoring with Samsung’s Galaxy watches and the Galaxy ring, the Huawei GT and Fit series – none of these has ever given me more than an hour of deep sleep per night. Xiaomi’s watches constantly estimate More than 2 hours of deep sleep per night.
Yes, it is true that outside the laboratory tests, sleep monitoring is mostly based on esteem, but more than 2 hours of deep sleep are disconcerting for the most suitable people.
Aside from Xiaomi’s sleep monitoring is engaging, giving you interesting metrics that compare your sleep with other users, assigning you a sleep animal and sharing suggestions on ways to improve sleep.
Detailed sleep tracking
Xiaomi says that it is possible to obtain up to 15 days of battery with “typical use” from the 486 mAh battery on the S4 clock. This publisher is firmly convinced that a watch, digital or not, must show time at any time, so I used the S4 watch with the display always on and notifications on, a daily workout of one hour and sleep monitoring at night. The maximum I had was three days, but the clock is almost dead. Two days were a constant result. You can squeeze more from Xiaomi Watch S4 if you turn off the AOD and stay to get up to wake up, even more if you don’t use it for sleep monitoring.
Conclusion
You can get the Xiaomi S4 watch for less than € 200 – an excellent price. Normally it is € 170 but it is often discounted by 10% or 20% – we adore an agreement. The smartwatches near the S4 clock in terms of construction quality and the specifications are more expensive.
This makes it simple: Xiaomi Watch S4 is a superb watch with high -level specifications at an exceptional price. We have very little to complain about, apart from the 2 -pin magnetic charger.
