Almost a year ago until today we have reported a Meta smartwatch in the works. It seems that the wearable (internal code name Milan) was in development for two years before Meta decided to pull the plug earlier this week for reasons still unknown. Today, we’re finally taking a look at a prototype of the device showing its design and dual cameras on its housing.
The Meta watch has a detachable body that protrudes from the base of the watch band. We can also see two buttons on the case and a total of two cameras. There is a 5MP front camera part of the screen as a teardrop notch and a 12MP shooter on the back next to the health sensors. The detachable body and dual camera would allow users to record photos and videos when they didn’t have the phone with them.

The watch was supposed to come with GPS and cellular connectivity and Wi-Fi, allowing you to use it completely without ties to a phone. Additionally, Meta was developing standalone WhatsApp apps and Instagram Stories for the watch, as well as one for Spotify.
The Meta Watch would also carry activity and health tracking apps, calendar, photo gallery and all the other usual smartwatch apps and settings. Based on the new report, the watch was advertised to offer 18 hours of battery life on a single charge. Meta was aiming for a launch in the spring of 2023 and at a sticker price of $ 349. Despite the cancellation of this particular smartwatch, Meta still has plans to develop other wrist-worn devices in the future.
