A law firm in the United States has filed a collective lawsuit against Sony over alleged drift issues with the DualSense controller for PlayStation 5.
The lawsuit claims that Sony is at fault because it is aware of the PS5’s DualSense controller problem and does not disclose the defect to customers prior to purchase. According to the legal documents, Sony’s behavior should be considered “fraudulent, deceptive, illegal and unfair”.
The main problem with DualSense appears to be controller drift, a phenomenon whereby the sticks will insert motion into video games without the player actually using the device. This is an issue that has been a big deal for Nintendo with the Switch Joy-Cons, which are known to deteriorate over time.
According to IGN, the lawsuit claims that Sony is not doing enough to repair affected DualSense controllers. Most users who go to the PlayStation site to report the problem are forced to go through long waits and delays before they can speak to a customer service agent.
The lawyers ask for a jury trial to address the case and also “monetary relief for the damages suffered, declarative measure and public injunction”.
