Horizon Forbidden West still looks set for release this year, with Sony confirming that the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t have a major impact on the upcoming Guerrilla Games sequel.

Speaking in an interview with GQ, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan explained that he doesn’t think the coronavirus situation will affect the release dates of his first party titles.

Ryan specifically mentioned Hirozon Forbidden West along with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal when asked about possible delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying all three are expected to launch again in 2021.

“And, you know, there are two approaches to that: you can keep the date and shut down the game regardless of the quality or you can ship it when it’s right,” Ryan said in the interview. “We have always adopted the latter approach. There have been some cases of high profile publishers who have tried the first approach. “

However, the PlayStation executive admitted that working from home adds additional stress and development time, but was adamant that Sony wouldn’t push developers to release games too quickly.

While there is currently no fixed release date for Horizon Forbidden West, one of the first commercials claimed it would launch in the second half of 2021.
