The long awaited Alone the television series will debut in the first quarter of 2022, Deadline reported.
The series also transitioned from Showtime to ViacomCBS’s Paramount + streaming service, though it is unknown where it will air in regions outside of the United States.
“We were looking for exclusive shows beyond the Star Trek franchise on CBS All Access and were thinking about what could be a defining series for Paramount +,” said David Nevins, CBS Chief Creative Officer. “Halo always fits the bill, but seeing it we thought it would work.”
Deadline reports that filming for the series began in Budapest last year, but was delayed due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, filming has now resumed with the show almost 60% complete.
The Alone the television series is a joint production between Showtime, 343 Industries and Steven Spielberg’s production company Amblin Television.
The project was first announced in 2013 by Spielberg, but only got the green light in 2018 after years of development. Before that, Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp were involved in an ill-fated attempt to bring the Xbox sci-fi shooter to the big screen as an ambitious film.
