Fans have been looking forward to the release of Total War: Warhammer 3, scheduled for this year. Now, however, developer Creative Assembly has verified that the game won’t be out before the start of 2022.

While disappointing, video game delays, especially for major titles, are becoming more and more common. And the official delay statement hits the same note that most of the delay statements hit about how this delay should lead to “a stronger release and the best first step towards a new era for Total War: Warhammer.”

In fact, the statement makes it pretty clear that this isn’t the end of an era for the franchise, but the start of a new era. “We don’t see this release as the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of the Games Workshop fantasy universe to Total War,” said Creative Assembly.

Fans of the Warhammer lore have a lot to look forward to when this game comes out. We will see new lands, including those that belong to the Ice Queen Kieslev. We will also see the debut of four Chaos factions: Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch. Finally, we will see the debut of the Grand Cathay faction and the developer promises a closer look at this faction for tomorrow.

Will you play this game, perhaps to deliver “blood for the blood god?” Let us know in the comments!
