Don't update it, close your wifi or mobile data.

Uninstall first then try again, with no internet connection to prevent it from automatically updating. And make sure to download the Modded version and not the original one. If it still doesn't work then I can't help anymore cause mines working fine Played the game, upgraded stuff for free, got bored then moved on.
