Google finally made the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel Watch official today, but there was another product it initially teased along with all of these in May: the Pixel Tablet. As revealed even then, this will not arrive before 2023, but today the company has fortunately decided to share a few more details about it.
The Pixel Tablet will have a (we assume optional) “Charging Speaker Dock”. this will essentially make it look like a smart display while docked, as the Google Assistant will always be listening and you will be able to use it in hands-free mode, and of course it will also allow you to control smart home devices.
The dock “transforms your tablet from something in your drawer into an integral part of your life,” according to Google. Research has shown that tablets are generally at home, but are only useful for a small portion of the day and the rest of the time they “feel out of place”, “hidden in a drawer, out of place, presenting a tripping hazard, or as soon as the battery runs out.
