Android 14 has been in beta for many months now, and Google initially led us to believe that the final, stable version would come out in August, just like what happened last year with Android 13. But that’s not the case, as more betas were added to the release cycle, at which point pretty much everyone in the tech world assumed the stable release would arrive in September.

WELL, about this. Yesterday was Labor Day in the US and that means a Google software update should be released today (they are generally released on the first Monday of every month unless it is a public holiday in the US, like yesterday, on which case they are delayed until the next day). But it may not be Android 14. Google is now said to have delayed the stable release to October, at the last minute.

I’ve now heard that the Android 14 source code release has been pushed back to next month.

This decision seems to have been made very late, as even the OEMs expected the release to happen today.
